IV Patent Search Project To Be Crowd-Funded?

Bloomberg reports that the Berkeley patent analytics firm,  IP Checkups Inc. is undertaking setting up “…a crowd-funded crowd-sourced project aimed at revealing Intellectual Ventures’ patent portfolio and make it freely available to the public.” Now there is a good idea! The project has a code name “Case IV Thicket,” in tribute apparently to the “Patent Thicket” term used for decades in the IP field.

The crowd funding for the project is going to be through Indiegogo.

No doubt IV is excited about this prospect. But, when you’re pursuing “Global Good” why worry about the flies on your elephantine back?
